My internship abroad – an unforgettable time

My internship abroad was an incredibly wonderful and enriching experience. I did my internship at Regenbogengrundschule in Herzogenrath and mainly worked in class 1b – my absolute favorite class! The children were very welcoming and open right from the start. They often came to me, wanted to cuddle, hold my hand or simply play together. I immediately felt comfortable and welcome there.

During my internship, I helped out in many areas: in German and math lessons, with language support, with syllable reading training and in the OGS in the afternoon. It was particularly nice that I was also able to help with special activities such as the girls’ club or the national youth games. The children gave me so many lovely drawings – it was really touching. On my birthday, I was even surprised with songs, presents and hugs. A day I will never forget!

As I live in Geleen and the internship took place in Herzogenrath, I lived with my grandparents in Landgraaf for nine weeks. That was a very special and wonderful time, not only for me, but also for my grandma and grandpa.

I can only recommend an internship at an elementary school to anyone. You gain so much valuable experience, are welcomed with open arms and take away memories that will last a lifetime.
